The Benefits of Hardware Polishing
Hardware polishing can actually be divided into many types, usually divided into the following categories based on their organizational state: ferrite steel, martensitic steel, austenitic steel, austenitic ferrite stainless steel, and precipitation hardening stainless steel. In addition, it can be divided into chromium nickel stainless steel, chromium stainless steel, and chromium manganese nitrogen stainless steel according to their composition. At present, there are several surface treatments for stainless steel: surface mirror stone polishing treatment, surface natural color whitening treatment, surface coloring treatment, etc. In modern life, stainless steel products are generally polished during production, and only a few products such as water dispensers and water heaters do not require polishing. Because this requires good polishing performance of the raw materials. The factors that affect the polishing performance of hardware mainly include the following:
① Surface defects of raw materials. Such as scratches, pitting, excessive pickling, etc.
② Material issues with raw materials. If the hardness is too low, it is not easy to polish (poor BQ performance), and if the hardness is too low, the surface is prone to orange peel phenomenon during deep stretching, which affects BQ performance. High hardness BQ is relatively good.
③ After deep stretching, the surface of areas with significant deformation will also show small black spots and RIDGING, thereby affecting BQ properties.
To achieve a mirror polished surface of stainless steel, methods such as chemical polishing, electrochemical polishing, and mechanical polishing can be used according to user needs and the complexity of stainless steel products. Next, we will introduce the advantages and disadvantages of these three methods:
Hardware polishing
1. Mechanical polishing:
Mechanical polishing has good leveling and brightness. However, labor intensity is high, pollution is severe, complex parts are difficult to process, gloss decreases, and investment and costs are high. Suitable for simple workpieces, medium to small products, and complex parts that cannot be processed. It should be noted that mechanical polishing cannot achieve consistent gloss throughout the product, and the gloss retention time is not long.
2. Chemical polishing:
Chemical polishing has low investment, complex parts can be polished, high efficiency, and fast speed. But the brightness is insufficient, the polishing solution needs to be humidified, and there is gas leakage, which requires a suitable wind equipment. For complex products with low brightness requirements, chemical polishing can be used, which is more cost-effective for small batch processing.
3. Electrochemical polishing:
Electrochemical polishing achieves mirror gloss, maintains long-term stability, reduces pollution, has low cost, and has good anti pollution performance. However, the one-time investment is large, complex parts require tooling and auxiliary electrodes, and mass production requires cooling. Suitable for dirt blocking products, requiring long-term maintenance of mirror gloss and bright products. The electrochemical polishing process is stable, easy to operate, and can be widely promoted and used.
